Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Different Letters provides browser-based text converters, utility pages, and written guides. This policy explains what information may be processed, when information leaves your device, and which third-party services may be involved.
2. Browser-based text processing
Most conversions run locally in your browser. Ordinary text entered into the converters is not sent to our server for the conversion itself.
- No account is required for the public tools.
- Shared text is removed from the visible URL before third-party scripts initialize.
- Image export and text transformations are performed on the device unless a feature explicitly says otherwise.
3. Browser storage
The site uses limited first-party browser storage to preserve language choices and move user-requested shared text out of the URL before third-party scripts can read it.
- NEXT_LOCALE is a SameSite=Lax preference cookie that may be retained for up to one year.
- user-language-preference is kept in localStorage until you clear site data or replace the preference.
- Shared text may be placed temporarily in sessionStorage and is removed after the generator reads it or when the browser session ends.
4. Optional style submissions
If you choose to submit a styled-text suggestion, the submitted text, request IP address, and browser user agent are sent to our server and stored in Supabase for review, duplicate detection, and abuse prevention.
This collection is optional and does not occur when you only use the regular converters.
5. Analytics and advertising
The production application can keep Google Analytics and Google AdSense disabled until the required account, consent, and placement settings are ready. When either service is enabled, Google may process page views, device information, approximate location, IP addresses, cookies, web beacons, or similar identifiers under its own policies.
Analytics is configured to report the page path without query strings or fragments, anonymize IP where supported, and disable Google signals and ad-personalization signals.
6. Consent and advertising choices
Google storage is set to denied by default in the site code. Where consent is legally required, relevant advertising or analytics storage must remain denied until a compatible consent solution communicates the visitor's choice.
Before personalized advertising is enabled for EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland traffic, the publisher must configure a Google-certified consent management platform and the required current TCF flow in the advertising account.
7. Third-party services
Depending on the enabled features, service providers may include Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Supabase, Cloudflare hosting and email routing, and the email provider used for support messages. These providers may process information in other countries under their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Support messages
If you email support, we receive your email address, message content, and any technical details you choose to include. We use that information to respond, reproduce issues, and review feedback.
9. Children
Different Letters is a general-audience utility and is not intended to collect personal information from children under 13. Game-themed pages do not require an account or personal profile data, and they are excluded from the advertising allowlist while audience and account settings are being reviewed.
10. Retention and security
We limit direct collection to the information needed for optional submissions and support. Retention by analytics, advertising, hosting, database, and email providers is also governed by their settings and policies. No online service can promise absolute security.
11. Your choices and contact
You may avoid optional submissions, omit personal details from converter fields and support messages, manage browser storage, use Google advertising controls, and decline consent where a consent interface is shown.
