Bold text guide
Unicode bold is different from a bold formatting button
This converter substitutes ordinary letters with bold-looking Unicode characters. The result survives copy and paste in many plain-text fields, while editor formatting such as Ctrl+B only works inside the editor that applied it.
Choose serif or sans
Bold serif feels formal and editorial; bold sans is cleaner for usernames, labels and short calls to action. Bold italic adds emphasis but becomes harder to scan in long sentences.
Expect incomplete coverage
Not every accented letter, symbol or writing system has a mathematical bold equivalent. Unsupported characters remain unchanged, which is preferable to silently deleting part of the original text.
Use semantic bold when an editor offers it
In documents, websites, and rich editors, the real bold control preserves ordinary letters and communicates emphasis to assistive technology. Choose Unicode bold only for a plain-text field where formatting is unavailable and the decorative tradeoff is acceptable.
Watch for lookalike characters
Mathematical letters can resemble ordinary account names, domains, and verification text without being the same code points. Never use them to disguise a link or imitate another identity, and keep security codes and contact details in normal characters.
Preserve the original for editing
A transformed bold string is no longer ordinary A-Z text, so case conversion, spell checking, sorting, and keyword matching may treat it differently. Keep an editable plain-text source beside the decorated version. When wording changes, edit the source and generate a fresh result instead of trying to repair individual mathematical characters. The original also provides a clean fallback when a device lacks one of the bold glyphs or substitutes a visibly mismatched font on another platform.
Use bold responsibly
- Keep paragraphs and instructions in ordinary text.
- Check accented names and numbers in the preview.
- Use bold for emphasis, not for every line.
